SOME JOY FOR MORNING

Now the connection with spring has dissolved.

Now that hysteria is blooming.

Says every day I want to fly my kite.

Says what’s a grammar when you is no longer you.

My world is hydrogen burning in space and in the fullness of etc.

I have read the news and learned nothing.

I try to understand the whooshing overhead.

But for a little light now.

I didn’t realize the tree was weeping.

How was I to know I am not alone.

Wild light.

SUNSHINE

Of what. Was wing.

Was bright all afternoon.

Was nothing

more than

collapsing into

the crisp March

late-winter air.

This sheaf of light.

It doesn’t help.

Nowhere to tune

my voice, waiting.

My mental furniture

breaking.

I have blood

in my veins

and we go on

together trying

to decode

the swath of evil

across our sun-

sovereign bodies.

All I want

is the word

to reveal the day.

Want to understand

the this in that,

want this, got that

and ran with it.

Also the stanzas

against the capital

reeling from might.

Got to be with

the peoples who

said no, and

then said yes.

The art of

the collective

as it collapses

into a poem.

Sometimes there

is a poem

and says my life.

Says what. Says wing.
